SMRŤ, ULOŽENIE A POCHOVANIE FRANTIŠKA ZOSNULÉHO V PÁNOVI
Ako pútnik nádeje, sprievodca a spoločník na ceste k veľkému cieľu, ku ktorému sme všetci povolaní – k nebu –, prešiel milovaný pastier Cirkvi František z tohto sveta k Otcovi 21. apríla Jubilejného roka 2025 o 7.35 ráno, keď svetlo Veľkej noci osvetľovalo druhý deň oktávy – Pondelok vo Veľkonočnej oktáve. Celé kresťanské spoločenstvo, najmä chudobní, vzdávalo vďaky Bohu za dar jeho služby, vykonávanej s odvahou a vernosťou Evanjeliu a mystickej Nevesty Kristovej.
Pápež František bol 266. pápežom. Jeho pamiatka zostáva v srdci Cirkvi i celého ľudstva.
Jorge Mario Bergoglio, zvolený za pápeža 13. marca 2013, sa narodil v Buenos Aires 17. decembra 1936 piemontským prisťahovalcom: jeho otec Mario bol účtovník a zamestnanec železníc, matka Regina Sivori sa starala o domácnosť a výchovu piatich detí. Po získaní diplomu chemického technika sa rozhodol pre kňazstvo. Najskôr vstúpil do diecézneho seminára a 11. marca 1958 začal noviciát v Spoločnosti Ježišovej. Humanitné štúdiá absolvoval v Čile, po návrate do Argentíny v roku 1963 získal titul z filozofie na kolégiu svätého Jozefa v San Miguel. Pôsobil ako profesor literatúry a psychológie na kolégiách Nepoškvrnenej v Santa Fé a Spasiteľa v Buenos Aires. Kňazskú vysviacku prijal 13. decembra 1969 z rúk arcibiskupa Ramóna Josého Castellana, 22. apríla 1973 zložil večné sľuby v Spoločnosti Ježišovej. Bol magistrom novicov vo Ville Barilari v San Miguel, profesorom na teologickej fakulte, konzultorom provincie a rektorom kolégia. Dňa 31. júla 1973 bol vymenovaný za provinciála jezuitov v Argentíne. Po roku 1986 strávil niekoľko rokov v Nemecku, kde dokončoval doktorát. Po návrate do Argentíny si ho kardinál Antonio Quarracino vybral za blízkeho spolupracovníka. Dňa 20. mája 1992 ho Ján Pavol II. vymenoval za titulárneho biskupa Aucy a pomocného biskupa Buenos Aires. Ako svoje biskupské heslo si zvolil Miserando atque eligendo a do erbu vložil kristogram IHS – symbol Spoločnosti Ježišovej. Dňa 3. júna 1997 bol menovaný za koadjútora arcibiskupa Buenos Aires a po smrti kardinála Quarracina sa 28. februára 1998 stal arcibiskupom, primasom Argentíny, ordinárom pre veriacich východných obradov v krajine a veľkým kancelárom Katolíckej univerzity. Ján Pavol II. ho kreoval kardinálom na konzistóriu 21. februára 2001 s titulom svätého Roberta Bellarmina. V októbri toho istého roka bol generálnym relátorom 10. riadneho zasadnutia Synody biskupov.
Vo svojej arcidiecéze bol jednoduchým a veľmi obľúbeným pastierom, ktorý ju precestoval celú – často metrom a autobusom. Býval v byte a večeru si varil sám, pretože sa cítil byť jedným z ľudí.
Po rezignácii Benedikta XVI. ho kardináli zhromaždení na konkláve zvolili za pápeža 13. marca 2013. Prijal meno František, lebo podľa príkladu svätého z Assisi chcel mať predovšetkým na srdci najchudobnejších. Z loggie požehnaní sa predstavil slovami: „Bratia a sestry, dobrý večer! A teraz začnime túto cestu: biskup a ľud. Cestu Cirkvi v Ríme, ktorá predsedá v láske všetkým cirkvám. Cestu bratstva, lásky a dôvery medzi nami.“ A keď sklonil hlavu, povedal: „Prosím vás, modlite sa k Pánovi, aby ma požehnal: modlitbu ľudu, ktorý prosí o požehnanie pre svojho biskupa.“ Dňa 19. marca, na slávnosť svätého Jozefa, oficiálne začal svoju Petrovskú službu.
Pápež František, vždy pozorný voči posledným a spoločnosťou vylúčeným, sa po zvolení rozhodol bývať v Dome svätej Marty, lebo nedokázal byť bez kontaktu s ľuďmi. Od svojho prvého Štvrtka svätého týždňa slávil Omšu na Pamiatku Pánovej večere mimo Vatikánu – zakaždým vo väzniciach, v centrách pre postihnutých alebo závislých. Kňazom odporúčal, aby boli vždy pripravení udeľovať sviatosť zmierenia, aby mali odvahu vyjsť zo sakristií hľadať stratenú ovečku a aby kostoly držali otvorené pre tých, ktorí túžia po stretnutí s Božou tvárou.
Petrovskú službu vykonával s neúnavnou oddanosťou v prospech dialógu s moslimami a predstaviteľmi iných náboženstiev, ktorých pozýval na spoločné modlitby a podpisoval spoločné vyhlásenia podporujúce súlad medzi príslušníkmi rôznych vierovyznaní – napríklad Dokument o ľudskom bratstve, podpísaný 4. februára 2019 v Abú Zabí s veľkým sunnitským imámom Ahmadom al-Tajíbom. Jeho láska k posledným, starším a deťom ho viedla k zavedeniu Svetových dní chudobných, starých rodičov a detí. Zaviedol aj Nedeľu Božieho slova.
Viac než ktorýkoľvek z jeho predchodcov rozšíril kardinálsky zbor: na desiatich konzistóriách kreoval 163 kardinálov – z toho 133 voličov a 30 nevoličov – pochádzajúcich zo 73 krajín, z ktorých 23 dovtedy nemalo vlastného kardinála. Zvolal päť zasadnutí Synody biskupov: tri riadne – o rodine, mladých a synodalite, jednu mimoriadnu – taktiež o rodine – a jednu osobitnú pre panamazonský región.
Jeho hlas sa viackrát ozval na obranu nevinných. Počas pandémie Covid-19 sa 27. marca 2020 večer sám modlil na prázdnom Námestí svätého Petra, ktorého kolonáda symbolicky objímala Rím i svet, za ľudstvo vystrašené a ranené neznámou chorobou. Posledné roky jeho pontifikátu boli poznačené častými výzvami za mier a proti „tretej svetovej vojne po častiach“, ktorá zasiahla mnohé krajiny – najmä Ukrajinu, ale aj Palestínu, Izrael, Libanon či Mjanmarsko.
Po hospitalizácii 4. júla 2021, ktorá trvala desať dní, pre operáciu v nemocnici Gemelli sa František 14. februára 2025 vrátil do tej istej nemocnice, kde strávil 38 dní kvôli obojstrannému zápalu pľúc. Po návrate do Vatikánu prežil posledné týždne života v Dome svätej Marty a až do konca sa so zanietením venoval Petrovej službe, hoci ešte nebol úplne uzdravený. Na Veľkonočnú nedeľu, 20. apríla 2025, sa naposledy ukázal na loggii Baziliky svätého Petra a udelil slávnostné požehnanie Urbi et Orbi.
Učiteľský úrad pápeža Františka bol veľmi bohatý. Svedčil o jednoduchom a pokornom štýle založenom na otvorenosti pre misiu, apoštolskej odvahe a milosrdenstve. Starostlivo sa vyhýbal nebezpečenstvu sebastrednosti a duchovnej svetskosti v Cirkvi. Svoj apoštolský program predstavil v exhortácii Evangelii gaudium (24. november 2013). Medzi hlavné dokumenty patria štyri encykliky: Lumen fidei (29. jún 2013) o viere v Boha; Laudato si’ (24. máj 2015) o ekológii a zodpovednosti ľudstva za klimatickú krízu; Fratelli tutti (3. október 2020) o ľudskom bratstve a sociálnom priateľstve; a Dilexit nos (24. október 2024) o úcte k Najsvätejšiemu Srdcu Ježišovmu. Promulgoval sedem apoštolských exhortácií, 39 apoštolských konštitúcií, množstvo apoštolských listov – väčšinu vo forme motu proprio, dve buly vyhlásenia Svätých rokov, ako aj katechézy pri generálnych audienciách a príhovory po celom svete. Zriadil Sekretariáty pre komunikáciu a ekonomiku, Dikastériá pre laikov, rodinu a život, ako aj pre službu integrálnemu ľudskému rozvoju. Rímsku kúriu reformoval vydaním apoštolskej konštitúcie Praedicate Evangelium (19. marec 2022). Zmenil kánonický proces vyhlasovania neplatnosti manželstva v CCEO a CIC (Mitis et misericors Iesus a Mitis Iudex Dominus Iesus) a sprísnil legislatívu týkajúcu sa zločinov klerikov voči maloletým a zraniteľným osobám (Vos estis lux mundi).
Pápež František zanechal všetkým obdivuhodné svedectvo ľudskosti, svätosti života a univerzálneho otcovstva.

Whether we like it or not, women are different from men, and vice versa; and it is because of these differences that unions occur. Some rights and duties are equal, but thanks to theologians, the vast majority of rights and duties are different. Equality only of opportunities.
