When school doors close for the summer, many young people and their families lose access to critical supports that keep them safe, healthy and engaged in learning and meaningful work experiences. This summer “opportunity gap” contributes to gaps in achievement and college and career success, particularly for low-income students. To meet this challenge, state and local leaders, community-based organizations, schools and other youth-serving agencies are coming together to create supports that enable strong transitions from school year to school year and from high school to college and careers.
This call is off the record and not for press purposes. We look forward to speaking with you soon.
